ReadJoy held their D.E.A.R assembly on Monday, April 8, 2019. They will be dropping everything to read a book of their choice every day for 15 minutes.

In years past they participated in One School, One Book, but this year they wanted the students to get to choose their reading material. The hope is that reading something they are interested in will encourage the students to read more.

Library Media Specialist, Nicole Iverson, read a story to the students about homophones. Staying with the theme, Principal Andrea Lacey joined the assembly dressed as a DEER for DEAR! Homophones are words with the same pronunciation but a different meaning.

Each student received their own special bag to keep their books in, so whenever it's time to drop everything and read they will have their book ready. They also received a flashlight to participate in "Flashlight Friday", where they will use their fun flashlights for their reading!
