Joy holds Veterans Day Ceremony

Joy Ceremony On November 9, 2017 Joy Elementary held a beautiful Veterans Day Ceremony. Students invited loved ones who served in all branches of the military to be honored. The Veterans who attended were as follows:

Victor Groomes, Armand Castro, Phil Celento, Eddie Jackson, Stan Greer, Tom Smith, Jamie Gallagher, Conse D'Argenio, Michael R. Dilts, Mathew VanDeusen, Eric S. Thompson, Teofil Kubala, Allan Rathbun, Donald Beal, Pete Podkowka, Donald White, Rocco Alsantte, Lloyd Barrigar, Fred Schmidt, Jamie Linder, Mark Trombetta, Gregory B. Yorton, Michael Perry, Walter Sickles, Angus McKinnon, Jake Buzby, Dale Riley, Natasha VanDeusen, Sam Guiliano Jr, Harry Turner, William Vancourt, Lewis Boone, Antonio L. Lambiase Sr, Tom Panych, Raymond Finneman and Richard Smith, Walter Gadwaw, John Egresits, Kyle Hesse, John Snow, David Smith, Brian Ahrens, Theodore Knapp, Vincent Egresits, Tedd Kehoe, Kelli Hesse, Jeremy Thomson, Daniel Champlin and Paul Champlin.

Principal Andrea Lacey lead the recognition of honorees.The students presented the Veterans with a gift of gratitude as well as sang them patriotic songs. Music was directed by Diane Vick. Former Joy students Jeremy Amoroso and Tah'ken Fediw joined the ceremony and played Taps.

A "Wall of Honor" was was made by the Kindergartners and Preschoolers and displayed in the hallway. Many patriotic decorations were spread throughout the school made by all students.

Student Kayla Finneman wrote a heart warming poem and read it aloud to her father who is a Veteran. The AFRL and Color Guard did the Presentation of Colors as well as the Flag Folding read by Julie Summa. 

Special guests Mayor Jackie Izzo and Superintendent Peter Blake attended the ceremony.
