test news 1On May 18th John Joy third and fourth graders displayed their career projects for parents, Board of Education members, distinguished guests, and staff. A group of RFA seniors who were former Joy students also attended the event to lend support to young students they met during the event kick-off in December. Students created job-specific brochures to go along with the posters and/or props that were on display during the culminating Career Showcase.

Under the direction of a team of teachers, students spent much of the school year immersed in a multi-faceted career/trade studies project. They conducted research, listened to the job experiences of a variety of guest speakers, and visited various job sites and institutions of higher learning.

“We are hopeful that this engaging, in-depth study will encourage students to think about the preparation and education required to achieve success in any given career,” said Mrs. Iverson.

Collaboration team is 3rd grade teachers: Mrs. Wasco, Mrs. Wilsey; 4th grade teachers: Ms. Bambury, Mrs. Bevilacqua, Mrs. Iacovissi; Literacy Specialist: Ms. Marchione; Library Media Specialist: Mrs. Iverson; and Technology Specialist: Mrs. Urbanik.
